LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Marty Knollenberg, R-Troy, welcomed Pastor Dan Lewis (right) and wife Peggy (center) to the state Capitol on Tuesday. Lewis serves as senior pastor at Troy Christian Chapel and delivered the invocation before Senate session.

Lewis was recently recognized by the Troy City Council for his 34 years of dedication and commitment to the community and his congregation at Troy Christian Chapel.

The Deacon Board of Troy Christian Chapel asked him in October 1981 to be the pastor of the church, beginning what was to become a 34-year pastoral ministry.

Lewis is also active in the community in several other capacities. To date, he has conducted 146 weddings, 201 baptisms, and 182 baby dedications, each of which he considers wonderful milestones in a 34-year ministry.

Lewis has said that the greatest blessings in his pastoral ministry have been watching and nurturing the spiritual growth in the community. In his work as a pastor, he has mentored several young ministers, some of whom are now pastors themselves.
