LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Marty Knollenberg on Sunday partnered with Emagine Theatre in Rochester Hills to sponsor a free showing of the movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.” The screening was free for veterans and their guests.

“We owe those who fought on our behalf a tremendous debt. It isn’t much, but it is a way of saying thank you,” said Knollenberg, R-Troy. “It was great to see so many people come out for the event — we had over 100 veterans and their guests show up.”

Veterans who attended and their guests were also treated to free popcorn and a beverage.

“It was my honor to partner with Emagine Theater in Rochester Hills to provide area veterans a complimentary showing of the movie ‘13 Hours’ on Sunday,” Knollenberg said. “The freedoms we all enjoy today were not free — they came at a great price. I am proud to show my support and appreciation for America’s service men and women whose everyday lives depict the actions of real-life heroes.”

The film “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” is based on the book “13 Hours” by Mitchell Zuckoff and follows six members of a security team who fight to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya after waves of terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2012.
